Sports Betting Preview – Hoyas, Wildcats in Big East showdown
February 4, 2010
US sportsbook odds (US sportsbook reviews) will be tight for Saturday’s Big East clash between Villanova and Georgetown, and the Wildcats will be looking to remain undefeated in conference action.

Villanova vs Georgetown odds – Saturday, February 6, 12:00 PM ET
The No.2 Wildcats (20-1, 9-0) have won 11 in a row since losing at Temple, and they’re coming off a tough 81-71 win over Seton Hall on Tuesday. The Wildcats held a 43-26 advantage on the glass, while Antonio Pena led the way with 16 points and eight boards. Scottie Reynolds is the senior leader of this team, and he added 15 for the Wildcats.
The No.7 Hoyas (16-4, 6-3) bounced back from a disappointing loss at Syracuse to thump Duke 89-77 in a game that wasn’t even that close. The Hoyas shot a remarkable 71.7% from the field, which was the second-highest percentage a team has ever shot against the Blue Devils. Greg Monroe and Chris Wright had 21 points apiece, while Austin Freeman added 20 for Georgetown.
The Hoyas should be favored at home, where they are 10-1, and the Blue Devils couldn’t handle the electricity in the Verizon Center last weekend. The Hoyas have won six of their last 10 meetings with Villanova, but the Wildcats snapped a five-game skid against Georgetown with an 82-77 win at home on January 17th. Monroe had a huge night with 29 points and 16 boards, but the Hoyas couldn’t stop Reynolds, who had 27. You can expect this game to be just as close, and very physical because it’s a Big East rivalry. Look for the Hoyas to get their revenge.

Super Bowl 44 is on the way and now that the Super Bowl odds are up, we can start handicapping the game.
Sportsbook odds: Colts -5.5
The Indianapolis Colts opened as a four-point favorite but that line has grown to 5.5. It’s fairly clear that not many people are putting much faith in the Saints come Super Bowl XLIV.
The Saints were very disappointing in the NFC Championship Game, even though they won it in overtime. But the fact that they needed an overtime field game when they got five gift turnovers from the Minnesota Vikings is what the concern is. The Saints are an inexperienced team and clearly, that is a major factor heading into this game. A lot of Colts have a ring on their finger already while the Saints simply don’t have that type of experience. That will be the main difference on Super Bowl Sunday.
NFL picks: Colts -5.5

The Super Bowl odds are the main topic of conversation nowadays but if you are feeling your buzzluck, try your luck on some futures to win it all. After all, we’re down to the final four – how hard could it be? At worst, you have 25% chance of getting it right.
Indianapolis Colts
Got to love the favorites here. They have the experience, they have Peyton Manning and they are the only team to win all of their games when they were actually trying. The New York Jets are pushovers and they’ll get smoked this week. Next week, the Colts will have an excellent shot against whoever comes out of the NFC.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints are the NFC favorite and they’ll probably get by the Vikings. If that’s true, then obviously their Super Bowl betting odds will improve. The Vikings have a weak pass defense and a weak road record. They are 4-4 away from home and the Saints will take advantage of that.
Minnesota Vikings
Sure, you have the Favre factor. Then you have the Adrian Peterson factor. Peterson hasn’t rushed for 100 yards in a game in eight straight – if he wakes up? look out. If he doesn’t? The Vikings will be put to bed and we can start the “Will Brett Favre actually retire?” debate again.
New York Jets
Meet Cinderella. She got lucky last week winning by three when the other team’s Pro Bowl kicker missed three field goals. She’ll need that type of luck the rest of the way or she’s going to get busted. There’s a very good chance that busting happens this week as the Colts wouldn’t mind some revenge on the one team that beat them this year. But…they still have the No. 1 ranked running game and the No. 1 ranked defense. That’s worth something.

The NFL betting season is winding down and after this weekend, the Super Bowl odds will be much clearer since we’ll narrow the field down to the final four.
NFL Betting: Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts
Sportsbook odds: Colts -6.5
The Indianapolis Colts beat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11 and that game was in Baltimore. What’s going to change now that this game is in Indianapolis? The Colts know what they have to do: shutdown the Ravens running game. If they can do that and put the ball in the hands of Joe Flacco, who is slowed by a hip injury, they are going to lose.
US Sportsbook Reviews Pick: Colts -6.5

Most people are shifting their focus to the Super Bowl odds but there’s some good games in the NBA tonight for sports betting (us sportsbook reviews):
NBA Betting: Washington Wizards @ Atlanta Hawks
It seems like every time some new news breaks on the Gilbert Arenas stiuation, the Washington Wizards slope downhill. Tonight, they are in Atlanta facing one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference and they are going to get beat down. They lost at home last night to the Detroit Pistons, which doesn’t leave much hope for them tonight in Atlanta.
I got in on this game at -11 for live betting – pile in before the Hawks run away with it.
Pick: Hawks -11

With football slowing down, it’s time to get back on the NBA bandwagon.
NBA Betting: Washington Wizards @ Cleveland Cavaliers
Sportsbook Odds (Matchbook Sportsbook Reviews): Cavaliers -13.5
The Washington Wizards are an absolutely wreck right now. Not only are they one of the worst teams in the NBA, they also have some serious chemistry issues. Now point guard Gilbert Arenas has been suspended indefinitely and the Wizards have to figure out a way to win without him. Who knows, maybe this actually helps them? The reality for tonight is that it probably won’t. Cleveland is 8-2 in their last 10 and is coming off a loss, so they’ll want to pile on. Those who bet NBA basketball should lay the points with the Cavaliers. In James we trust.
Online Wagering Pick: Cavaliers -13.5
