If you are one of those guys that bet horses, don’t worry about it until the Breeders Cup next month. Let’s take a look at some hockey futures:
NHL Preview: Ottawa Senators
Sportsbook Regular Season Point Total: 84.5

The Ottawa Senators are a very underrated team this year. True, they aren’t the Eastern Conference powerhouse they once were but they could genuinely be a very dangerous playoff team in the East. The Senators upgraded their goaltending with the acquisition of Pascal Leclaire and they have more depth after trading away Dany Heatley. Also, they should have more chemistry.
The over/under for the Senators in the sportsbook is at 84.5. Look for them to go over that number rather easily. They had 83 points last year in a sluggish year.
Sports betting system pick: Senators over 84.5

A lot of racebook bettors are interested in what’s going on with the New England Patriots but not to worry, they will bounce back.
NFL Picks: Atlanta Falcons @ New England Patriots
NFL betting line: Patriots -4

Sure, the New England Patriots have looked sluggish to start the season. Relax, it’s still September. Come talk to me in December. The Pats could be 0-2 but they aren’t and they’ll be 2-1 after this week. The Falcons are still a young team and they are an indoor team heading outdoors on the road. They don’t play as well on the road as they do at home. Patriots roll, baby.
Pick: Patriots -4

It’s time to hit the sportsbook hardcore as there will be plenty of fighting this weekend. Let’s start with the Mayweather Marquez odds on Saturday.
Boxing odds: Floyd Mayweather vs Juan Manuel Marquez

Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather is back after a two-year retirement and you know he’s going to get the crowd amped up for this fight. Juan Manuel Marquez is a good fighter and he’s no cupcake, but he’s not Mayweather either. Unless Floyd feels some rust, there is no way that Mayweather loses this fight. Not only is he too fast for Marquez, he’s also too big for him in this contest. Look for Mayweather to beat him up for a while and then knock him out late.
Racebook Picks: Mayweather via 10th Round TKO.

Before we tackle NFL Week 2 betting, let’s not forget about the solid college pigskin this week. This Thursday night, the Miami Hurricanes host Georgia Tech in what could be another barn burner for the Hurricanes.
NCAA football betting: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets @ Miami Hurricanes

Georgia Tech’s near collapse against Clemson showed us the Yellow Jackets are unpredictable. With Miami, on the other hand, we know what we get. The Hurricanes can score — they dropped 38 points on Florida State and Jacory Harris threw for 386 yards — but they get scored on a ton too. FSU had 404 total yards against them. More importantly, Georgia Tech, who has beaten Miami four straight times, ran for 474 friggin’ yards the last time it faced Miami. Not exactly a recipe for Hurricanes success, is it?
Go with the minor road upset on the strength of Georgia Tech’s running game, which ranks fourth in the nation.
Pick: Georgia Tech +4.5

The NFL Week 1 Matchups are all on the board so let’s get to betting them.
NFL betting: San Diego Chargers @ Oakland Raiders

If you’re into racebook picks, this game should suit you. The horses will be out in this contest as both LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles are ready to run wild on Oakland. The Raiders gave up 192 rushing yards per game in the preseason and the best part was that they traded for Richard Seymour to improve that running game, but he has yet to report. Tease the Chargers down as they get the job done.
Pick: San Diego -9

Stop with the racebook picks and let’s get down to business with the NFL. It starts this Thursday and here’s an opening day pick:
Titans Steelers odds: Steelers -6

The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to roll in Week 1. This is a revenge game from Week 16 but the bottom line is that the Steelers are not going to let Smash or Dash, aka Chris Johnson and LenDale White, run wild. They are going to force the Titans to win the game on Kerry Collins arm and that’s not likely to happen at Heinz Field.
NFL betting pick: Steelers -6
