Just one week after all four home teams were underdogs in the opening round of the playoffs, all four home teams are favorites in the Divisional Round.

Home teams dominate in this round, so buyer beware before you get to liking all four road teams.

Ravens vs Titans odds: Titans -3

Second verse, same as the first. No – not referring the Week 3 meeting between these two teams.

The Dolphins needed to run the ball to beat the Ravens and they could not. The Titans need to run the ball against the Ravens and they will not.

The Ravens simply don’t give up a lot of yards on the ground so if you’re Tennessee, you need Kerry Collins to lead you to a victory. This is exactly what everyone has been questioning all season – now we’ll find out if Collins is up to it.

The Ravens forced the Dolphins into five turnovers and they only made 13 turnovers all season long.

Titans vs Ravens pick
: Ravens +3

Cardinals vs Panthers odds: Panthers -10

The Arizona Cardinals were vastly outplayed in the first half of their game against the Atlanta Falcons and essentially ended up winning on a fluke play where Michael Turner couldn’t handle a hand off.

Virtually all of the Cardinals scores last week came off of big plays as they had very few sustained drives. Expect more of the same this week as the Cardinals take their pass-pass-pass show on the road. The Cardinals can’t run the ball – the Panthers can run with the best of them. You do the math.

Cardinals vs Panthers pick: Panthers -10

Eagles vs Giants odds: Giants -4

This will be the third time these two teams meet up this season as the visitor has won both times so far. The Eagles kicked the crap out of the Giants in the last meeting as the Giants only points came off of a blocked field goal attempt that was returned for a touchdown.

The Giants have lost three of their last four games and simply are not a confident team right now. They were virtually unstoppable early on in the season but it looks like their best football is behind them. A bye week may mean they are rested but it further hampers momentum. This will be a field goal game but it’s better to trust the team that is playing better right now, and that’s the Eagles.

Eagles vs Giants pick: Eagles +4

Chargers vs Steelers odds: Steelers -6

In a season where the Super Bowl is up for grabs and there is no clear favorite a la the New England Patriots last year, the San Diego Chargers look like the team of destiny. They have won five straight, exorcised their demons against the Indianapolis Colts last week and will be looking to revenge another regular season loss this weekend.

The Chargers lost in Pittsburgh earlier in the year but the Chargers were really struggling. This is a confident team who has been riding Philip Rivers over the last five weeks.

The Chargers will likely be without LaDainian Tomlinson but that might be a good thing. He’s been struggling to run all season long and the switch to Darren Sproles might actually provide a boost for the Chargers.

Look for Ben Roethlisberger to make some mistakes – he’s coming off a concussion and that shouldn’t be underestimated.

Chargers vs Steelers pick: Chargers +6

For the first time in New Mexico Bowl odds history, the New Mexico Lobos are not playing in the New Mexico bowl. It is a historic moment on some levels, but the New Mexico Bowl has only been around for a couple of years, so settle down. This isn’t like Chris Paul breaking Alvin Robertson’s steal records or anything.

This year, we’ll see a Colorado State vs Fresno State matchup, which pits the Mountain West conference against the WAC. These two conferences will got at it a few times this postseason in what is quickly becoming a little bit of a rivalry between two of the Cinderella-producing conferences.

Sportsbook odds have Pat Hill’s Bulldogs favored but I’m not so sure that that’s the right call. Think about the motivation for a second in this New Mexico Bowl spread. The Bulldogs were planning to crash the BCS party at the beginning of the year while Colorado State was just hoping they’d make a bowl game in Steve Fairchild’s first year as head coach. Colorado State will be up for this game while Fresno State might not be so jacked.

New Mexico Bowl pick: Colorado State

It’s Black Friday, which means lots and lots of sales. Unfortunately, we don’t get sales on sports book odds. Nonetheless, black Fridays can also be for black eyes.

To commemorate Black Friday, here’s the best fight from the NHL this year, which probably left a few black eyes on Derrick Dorsett and Daniel Carcillo:

Hopefully lots of you finish the betting week in the black with all of the college football rivalry games, if you know what I’m saying.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 27, 2008

It’s turkey time, which means we’ll have silly awards after the football games (Phil Simms award) and more importantly, football and NFL betting. And Adam Sandler.

Titans vs Lions odds:

Titans are a huge favorite, everyone assumes they bounce-back after a loss. That’s not necessarily the case. Look for a tight game.

Online betting Pick: Lions +11

Seahawks vs Cowboys odds:

Seahawks don’t travel well – have you forgotten? Sure they played with the Cardinals and Redskins at home over the recent weeks but this is a must-win for the Cowboys.

Online betting pick: Cowboys -12.5

There’s also one college game on the board. I would take Texas – they can’t mess around in this game and they need an emphatic win with Oklahoma potentially gaining points with a win over Oklahoma State.

NHL Betting – Bruins, Canadiens Continue Original Six Rivalry

NHL betting doesn’t get much better than this for online sports betting sharps and sportsbook enthusiasts. The Bruins and Canadiens meet up in the NHL on Saturday night in what figures to be another exciting game.

Who do you like? The Habs will be favored at home but the Bruins are suddenly one of the best teams in the league. They have 28 points already and definitely were not expected to have that many points until this point. I’ll stop saying the word point.

I like the Bruins tomorrow in a slight surprise of a win.

Thursday Night Betting

November 13, 2008

Not much on the card today – Saturday will be busy. On Saturday, here’s the odds we’ll get a chance to look at:

South Carolina vs Florida odds, Boston College vs Florida State odds, Notre Dame vs Navy odds, some NASCAR betting and Lesnar vs Couture odds.

For tonight, though, we have some NBA betting, including the Denver Nuggets @ Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks @ Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons @ Golden State Warriors.

Denver is too much of an underdog. I’ll take them plus the points. Dallas shouldn’t be an underdog in Chicago – they are the better team, so I’ll take them with the points. And for the late game, I’ll god with Detroit. In other words, I like all three road teams.

Sportsbook odds have a light college basketball card but I’ll pass tonight.
