How does a 3-1 night sound? Take that, sportsbook! Let’s keep pounding away on March Madness betting and NBA betting:

NBA betting: Dallas Mavericks @ Phoenix Suns

Sportsbook odds: Suns -6.5

The Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns will play on NBA TV tonight in a game of two soft teams. The bottom line is this: Phoenix is already in a big hole as far as the playoffs are concerned and they need this game desperately to climb back into the race. Dallas is a much weaker team on the road so expect a very good effort from the Suns at home.

Online betting pick: Suns -6.5

NBA betting: Cleveland Cavaliers @ Los Angeles Clippers

Sportsbook odds: Cavaliers -11

LeBron James

The Cavaliers probably won’t see much resistance tonight from the Clippers. Baron Davis might be back tonight, and same with Zach Randolph, but neither of those guys really care about winning. The Cavs need wins and they know how important home-court advantage is in the playoffs.

Online betting pick: Cavaliers -11

College Basketball betting:  Rutgers @ Notre Dame

Sportsbook odds: Notre Dame -10.5

The Scarlet Knights are absolutely horrendous and while Notre Dame has been a big disappointment this year, they aren’t nearly on the same level as Rutgers. Notre Dame has some weapons and potentially some NBA talent. They’ll roll.

Online betting pick: Notre Dame -10.5

College Basketball betting: Cleveland State @ Butler

Sportsbook odds: Butler -6

Butler has their spot in the Tournament while Cleveland State might have to do some more work. For them, this contest is more important. Motivation is obviously key and that’s why I think Cleveland State keeps this game really tight tonight.

Online betting pick: Cleveland State +6

Take a break from your UFC 95 picks and let’s focus on March Madness betting for a minute.

This has been an interesting week in college basketball betting. The North Carolina Tar Heels won again, which puts them at 10 straight wins. Also, the Memphis Tigers won again, which puts them at 17 straight wins.

The big news here is that these teams still are not receiving the type of attention that they are used to.

NCAA basketball betting fans couldn’t stop talking about North Carolina at the beginning of the season but after a stretch of two losses in three games, they’ve been back-seated by other schools like Pittsburgh and UConn.

Memphis followed a different path, but they also aren’t talked about at all. Nobody even considered that the Tigers would factor in final four lines but they have won 17 straight after starting just 6-3. Freshmen sensation Tyreke Evans is now a player, opposed to early in the year when he was raw and inexperienced.

Keep an eye on both of these teams. They are experienced and well coached, and more importantly, they are playing their best ball as the season moves closer to the Tournament. They might make it to the final four point.

Laugh The Day Off

February 3, 2009

Sportsbook bettors usually come around looking for betting insight. Today, I’m going to laugh it off like this hot chic.

Sportsbook odds that you find her on TheDirty.com within the next 5 years? -150. March Madness betting…where are you?

Well, online sports betting handicappers, Super Bowl XLIII is over. Naturally, that means it’s the end of the football season.

February has a couple of events, but nothing too major. The Daytona 500 is a big event but that depends if NASCAR is your cup of tea. There’s also the NBA All-Star Game…yawn.

So naturally, the next two best things that we are looking forward to are the World Baseball Classic and March Madness. Sportsbook odds have the North Carolina Tar Heels among the lead horses to win it all, even though they have a couple of losses. Duke is up there and so is UConn. The good news is that North Carolina doesn’t look untouchable, so the tourney should be wide open.

There’s plenty of college basketball lines to examine before we get there so don’t fret. There will be plenty of action to carry us until then.
